Apache Hadoop, the open source framework for data-intensive distributed applications, is on a roll. So it's no surprise that Pervasive Software Inc., which makes software that manages and analyzes data, is a big booster.
In a recent interview with Information Week, Mike Hoskins, the company's chief technical officer explains why he thinks the technology is hot. "Hadoop is a beautiful thing," he said. "Its DNA and skeleton are essentially the right architecture and technology for the adoption of commodity hardware."
In June his company announced the availability of Pervasive Data Integrator v10 - Hadoop Edition, which it says enables Apache Hadoop users to rapidly flow all their business data both to and from their Hadoop-based big data stores.
At the time Hoskins said this version of Integrator will let users move data with a single click from DB2, MySQL, Netezza, PostgreSQL, SQLServer, Oracle, Teradata and Vertica databases into the HBase database that comes with all Hadoop distributions.
