Intel`s Data Center Group is promoting its low-power Xeon server chips as the answer to processing and gaining insight from huge amounts of data, according to this CRN article. A great deal of CPU muscle is needed to sift through unstructured data and Intel is apparently trying to capitalize on the increasing demand for it.
The shift towards high-performance computing (essentially, servers with more CPUs) has been apparent recently with companies like IBM and SAS offering their most demanding customers
