Intel eyes big data processing power

Intel`s Xeon chips could provide the high performance needed for real-time analytics

Intel`s Data Center Group is promoting its low-power Xeon server chips as the answer to processing and gaining insight from huge amounts of data, according to this CRN article. A great deal of CPU muscle is needed to sift through unstructured data and Intel is apparently trying to capitalize on the increasing demand for it.
 
 

The shift towards high-performance computing (essentially, servers with more CPUs) has been apparent recently with companies like IBM and SAS offering their most demanding customers HPC technology. The benefit of massively parallel architectures in big data processing is that they can deliver insights in real time (sometime in milliseconds).
