HP unveils Haven for big data

LAS VEGAS-  If your organization is keen on building its next generation of applications, Hewlett-Packard says it has a “safe haven” waiting for you.

At the Discovery 2013 event here on Tuesday HP launched a new big data analytics portfolio called HAVEn which rolls together technologies from Hadoop, and several HP systems such as its Autonomy search platform, Vertica in-database analytics platform, ArcSight security and risk management offerings and operations management.

“Haven, actually stands for Hadoop, Autonomy, Vertica, enterprise security, and N for the large number of  HP systems that can be used with any number of your applications,” said Colin Mahoney, senior vice-president of Vertica.

He said Haven enables customers and HP partners to:

  • Avoid vendor lock-in with its open architecture that supports a broad range of analytics tools including Hadoop distributions, programing languages and an ecosystem of business intelligence (BI), visualization and extract transform and load (ETL) solutions
  • Protect existing investments with support for multiple virtualization technologies such as VMware, Amazon and OpenStack as well as on-premise, private or public clouds
  • Gain up to 100 per cent of information from structured, semi-structured and unstructured data with the use of HP systems that connect to Haven
  • Accelerate time to value with hardware solutions such as HP AppSystems for Vertica, HP AppSystems for Apache Hadoop and offerings from HP partners
The first integrated big data analytics solution built on HAVEn is HP Operations Analytics, which delivers insight into IT operations enabling organizations to maintain quality service.
Operations Analytics allows organizations to efficiently consume, manage and analyze massive streams of IT operational data from, amongst others, HP ArcSight Logger and the HP Business Service Management portfolio, as well as third-party sources.

HP Enterprise Services is also rolling out Actionable Analytics Services which helps clients improve customer engagement and move with more agility to meet changing markets. The service helps clients to extract insights and streamline processes such as customer offers, procurement, supply chain and inventory operations.
