Dell developing mobile management appliance

Dell is trying to make inroads into the lucrative market for mobile device management, announcing this week that it will soon release the K3000 Mobile Management Appliance.

The mobile management, provisioning and policy software, installed on Dell rack server, marks a significant upgrade on the last generation of K2000 appliances, which did not have the mobile capabilities, according to this NetworkWorld article.

Roger Bjork, director of marketing for Dell enterprise mobility solutions, describes the appliance as “plug and play.” It can be accessed through a Web interface that doesn’t require a great deal of employee training to use, according to the company.
