Canada Post teams up with e-commerce site Etsy

Canada Post has partnered with Etsy Inc. in a venture that will offer the Crown corporation’s shipping services to sellers running their businesses on the Etsy e-commerce platform.

“The Etsy community has been flourishing in the Canadian e-commerce space for some time already,” said Rene Desmarais, senior vice-president for parcels at Canada Post. “We are pleased to now enable them with the best and most convenient shipping solutions in the country to help them grow their business.”

The collaboration will allow Canadian business users of Etsy to streamline their order fulfillment process with tools that enable them to create and print shipping labels directly from the Etsy Web site.

“After developing this new feature alongside Canada Post with a prototype group of over 3,000 sellers, we are now thrilled to offer an efficient and easy-to-use shipping solution to all Canadian sellers,” said Eric Fixler, director of shipping program at Etsy.

Canada Post currently handles 95 per cent of the shipments of Etsy’s Canadian operations.

Etsy’s global community of one million sellers sold more than $1.5 billion worth of goods in 2013.
