Cisco releases OpenStack distribution

Bid to show its support for the open source cloud management platform includes core services for the Essex and Folsom versions of OpenStack

Cisco Systems Inc. is showing more support for the OpenStack open source cloud management platform by releasing a free distribution dubbed the Cisco Edition of Open Stack. It's significant in that it includes virtual networking services.

According to Cisco's Kyle Mestery, CEOS been tested on Ubuntu Linux 12.04 with the Cisco Nexus switches and UCS C Series servers, although it can run on other infrastructure.
 
With service providers and enterprises increasingly interested in anything cloud, the opportunity to test an integrated distutibution will be snapped up by many organziations.
