Another BYOD threat: Free apps

There's a price for free, according to research presented at the latest Black Hat security conference

Just what IT managers didn't want to hear: There's another reason to roll eyes at a bring-your-own device policy. Research presented at this week's Black Hat security conference in Las Vegs suggests that even legitimate mobile apps staff have on their smart phones can still pose threats.

This story notes that 96 per cent of iOS apps and 84 per cent of Android apps have some ability to access sensitive information on the mobile device -- mostly games, but also business, healthcare and finance apps.
