RSA, Sun team on network security

RSA Security Inc. and Sun Microsystems Inc. announced a joint sales, engineering and marketing agreement Thursday to integrate several of their network security products, an alliance the companies say will offer customers a complete security package and help administrators protect services and assets accessible through the Internet.

RSA’s ClearTrust Web access management software is now interoperable with Sun’s ONE (Open Net Environment) Directory Server and ONE Portal Server, and porting of the software to Sun’s ONE Application Server is in progress. That port should be completed by the end of August, according to an RSA spokesman.

The three Sun products are also now supported by RSA’s Keon digital certificate management software.

Integration of RSA’s ClearTrust with Sun’s ONE Directory and Portal Servers allows customers to centralize management of user access privileges to Web resources, reducing administrative costs and the potential for fraud, RSA said.

ClearTrust is already interoperable with software from several other major vendors, including Oracle Corp., BEA Systems Inc., and Plumtree Software Inc., according to RSA.
