Cordless MP3 player coming, boom box back

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. is launching one of the world’s first MP3 portable music players using Bluetooth technology to replace cables. And if you thought the boom-box days ended with the emergence of MP3 players, think again: the company has designed an MP3 player with a slide-out stereo speaker system.

“As far as we know, we’re the first to offer a Bluetooth-enabled MP3 player,” a Samsung spokesman said Friday at the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin. The phone’s release date was not provided.

Embedded Bluetooth technology will allow users to connect their headphones to their MP3 players over the airwaves, thus eliminating the need for cabled ear plugs, which users find annoying.
