With new mobile and Web-based applications increasingly in demand organizations are facing pressure to integrate data faster to get new services live as fast as possible.
Tibco has released today what it calls one of the biggest updates of its products with the release of BusinessWorks Express 6.0, its flagship integration platform, to meet that need.
Thomas Been, the company’s director of product marketing, said in an interview the suite has improvements aimed not only at integration specialists and application DevOps staff but lines of business employees who want to do some work themselves.
“You can be defining integration logic without seeing a line of code,” he said.
“The goal for us was to adapt to this Web-oriented architecture (world) to provide a platform to our customers a way to build their Web APIs and expose their core data and processes as REST services.”
Already strong in graphical application modeling, with a set of a pallets to drag and drop to define integration logic, version 6.0 has streamlined the process, Been said. If, for example, a user wants to integrate a new file the suite will ask what is to be done with it, and then manages the integration.
To shorten development lifecycle there is a one-button debugger to test the logic.
The suite now has what Been called “first class” support for creating REST (representational state transfer) APIs through a set of wizards. “In 30 seconds the tool can manage all the configurations,” he said.
A new Enterprise Administrator gives managers visibility into their infrastructure for deploying and managing your integration logic. It also uses Tibco’s our in-memory data grid for handling large Web and mobile integrations.
