Survey highlights IT-business process control issues

Monitoring and managing the workloads associated with business processes plague the majority of enterprises, according to a survey released Wednesday.

An Austrian company called UC4 commissioned the survey, which was conducted by Unisphere Research and polled members of close to 350 Oracle Applications User Groups.

Two thirds of respondents said they have experienced delays in business processes due to manual intervention such as scripting, which is done by three out of four firms.

More than 75 per cent of organizations surveyed are having difficulties managing and monitoring workload.

One third of those surveyed are considering strategies based on Oracle Fusion, BPEL and Application Integration Architecture (AIA), the report said.

The survey was completed in December 2007 and covered a broad representation of job titles ranging from CIOs, IT directors and managers through to business analysts and software developers. By industry, the largest segment of respondents was manufacturing companies, while utility, transportation, communications, financial services organizations as well as government and educational organizations were among industry sectors surveyed, UC4 said.
