Canadian unified communication solutions company Mitel Networks is expanding its presence in the contact centre space with the acquisition today of recording software maker Oaisys.

Oaisys, which was founded in 1996 in Cambridge, England is a leading provider of easy-to-use call recording solutions and business intelligence tools for contact centres. Mitel (NASDAQ: MITL) did not disclose financial details of the deal but said the acquisition comes at time of rapid growth in the contact centre applications market.

“Contact centres have become the frontline for businesses looking to harness customer insights and intelligence to deliver competitive advantage and growth, and the acquisition is Oaisys is a logical next step in Mitel’s strategy and solution to address that market demand,” said Richard McBee, CEO of the Ottawa-based Mitel.

Oaisys seeks to grow its product range and reach through Mitel, said Brian Spencer, CEO of Oaisys.

“Full integration into the multi-platform contact centre portfolio of a major multi-national vendor like Mitel opens doors for us to take our products to new platforms, new partners and new markets.”

In November last year, Mitel bought Concord, Ont.-based UC company Asstra Technologies Ltd. for $392 million in cash and shares.
