Windows Server Update Fixes Multiple Issues

Microsoft has released an OBB update for Server 2019 to address several issues that occurred after users installed the January 2022 updates.

The update covers multiple Windows versions including Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 20H2, Windows Server 20H1, Windows Server 2016 and Windows Server 2012 R2.

The issues include domain controllers entering into boot loops, Hyper-V no longer starting, L2TP VPN connections failing and ReFS volumes becoming inaccessible.

The problem spiralled out of control and many administrators were forced to uninstall the January update since that was the only way out until Microsoft introduced a fix.

According to Microsoft, the Windows Server 2019 KB5010791 update is available for Windows Update and the Microsoft Catalog. It is not yet available in WSUS. To install the update, it must be imported manually.

Windows Server admins who installed the update confirmed that the problems encountered in the January update have all been fixed by Microsoft.
