Spotify launches AI voice translator for podcasts

Spotify is set to take podcasting to a new level with its new AI voice translation feature which allows listeners to enjoy podcasts in their native language, even if they were originally recorded in English.

The AI voice translation feature uses OpenAI’s latest voice-generating technology to preserve the speaker’s style and intonation, resulting in a more authentic listening experience than traditional dubbing. Spotify is currently piloting the feature with a select group of podcasters, including Dax Shepard, Monica Padman, Lex Fridman, Bill Simmons, and Steven Bartlett.

“By matching the creator’s own voice, Voice Translation gives listeners around the world the power to discover and be inspired by new podcasters in a more authentic way than ever before,” said Ziad Sultan, VP of Personalization, in a press release.

To access the AI voice translation feature, users should visit Spotify’s Voice Translations page and select the podcast and language you want to listen to. Users don’t need a Premium membership to use the feature as well.

Spotify plans to roll out the AI voice translation feature to more podcasters and languages in the coming weeks and months.
