Peer 1 Hosting names appoints Gary Sherlock CEO

Following seven years as chief financial officer of Peer 1 Hosting and then co-CEO, Gary Sherlock was named CEO of the cloud hosting and Web infrastructure company today.

Sherlock’s appointment follows the resignation of co-CEO Fabio Banducci last November. Banducci left the Peer 1 a year after the Vancouver-based independent cloud infrastructure provider negotiated a friendly takeover by Cogeco Cable Inc. of Montreal.

“Sherlock and Banducci’s complementary leadership styles fostered a customer-centric environment where employers were passionate not just about their work, but also professional and personal development to better serve customers,” a statement from Peer 1 said. “Under their leadership, Peer 1 flourished into a company that powers human potential and believes that every interaction matters.”

Banducci joined Peer 1 in 2005 as executive vice-president. He became Peer1’s president a year later, and the company’s CEO in 2007. Sherlock joined the company in 2006 and helped Banducci implement the company strategy’s to expand in both domestic and international markets

“Though the company has evolved over the years, one unwavering element is our commitment to people – employees, customers and partners,” said Sherlock. “I am grateful for the opportunity to lead Peer 1 as CEO and look forward to carrying out our vision and bringing the company to the next growth phase.”

“Gary is an accomplished leader who strives for excellence in all areas of business and Peer 1’s dedicated employees and innovative customers will continue to benefit from his guidance,” said former co-CEO Banducci.

Cogeco bought Peer 1 in 2012 for about $635 million. At that time, Cogeco already had six data centres in Canada with a total of 100,000 square feet. The addition of Peer 1 provided the Montreal company with another 19 data centres and 21 points of presence in North America and Europe with some 100,000 customers.
