One of the best ways of insuring the future is encouraging and empowering children today. Oracle and Raspberry Pi have come together to do exactly that by ensuring students have been helped to sharpen their skills and be motivated to try out coding. As a result, the partnership is sponsoring students with free kits.

The initiative is a Raspberry Weather Station Oracle Academy meant for schools and currently distributing a thousand free hardware kits from Raspberry Pi to diverse students across the globe. As a result, students will be able to understand geography and meteorology as they hone their coding skills.

Learning Oracle has its benefits apart from the fact that finding and fixing query performance can be done much faster, especially with a database performance analyzer particularly among students who decide to take it to the next level.

Targeted age bracket
Children within the age of eleven and sixteen are mainly the ones being targeted by the initiative. These young minds are given a chance to select how apps are made through SQL elements that are uniquely Oracle. Collected data is hosted on a cloud computing database, which is essentially being funded by the company’s philanthropic arm, Oracle Giving.

The sponsorships will help motivate students to create their own website that will then showcase the local weather as it stands, such as pressure and humidity, wind direction, temperature and speed.

Fulfilling careers
Every student would love a great career someday. Through this sponsorship, it is possible for students to prepare for the future where diverse occupations awaits them, such as computer science, application programming and database management specialists.

Essentially, the Oracle Raspberry Pi Weather Station initiative goes further than just showing students the great world of computer science and how the knowledge can aid them in understanding, interrogating and measuring the world in a better way; the initiative is also giving these young minds lots of hands-on opportunities capable of developing their skills. This is a great way of inspiring tomorrow’s specialists to internalize and take up roles related to computer science needed by virtually every economy around the world.

Powerful model
While this sponsorship is great news for children within this bracket, the Raspberry Pi Foundation also stirred the world with the introduction of the Raspberry Pi 2’s Model B, which is a very affordable and powerful model with lots of hardware upgrades. The powerful model, Pi 2 is running on an ARMv7 quad-core processor clocking an average of 900 MHz although power users could clock the model even more with a RAM of 1 GB included.

Pi 2 has been termed as an entry level computer that can have LibreOffice installed and comes with a web browser making it the cheapest entry level PC there is. This makes it great for schools and very handy as an educational tool but considered very useful just as a typical computer.

The aim of the sponsorship is ensuring the skills gap that stands has been closed. Raspberry Pi as a result is currently a very important and popular school for all kinds of students globally who will learning coding and build the highly anticipated top-tier gaming titles the future will demand. As a result, these students together with their impressive skills will close the acute gap that stands and being experienced across the world.
