Workshare Inc. has added encryption features to its Protect Premium client, which is designed to encrypt full disks, network drives, removable drives and folders.
Workshare Protect Crypto is bundled with Protect Premium Client, which costs US$49.95 per year. The San Fransciso-based vendor says its service can be combined with e-mail encryiption products from Cisco/IronPort, Secure Computing, CryptZone, Voltage, PGP and Utimaco.
It can encrypt removable media, files and folders, and works with Active Directory, Vista, XP and Windows 2000. The service also has a management console, which includes authentication with USB keys or smart cards to protect stations an encrypted data stored on hard disks or disk arrays.
Workshare says the product lets IT managers centralize password and key recovery and support multiple disk images. It can be used on NTFS, Novell and other network-based file systems.
