Red Hat boosts JBoss SOA platform, dev tools

Red Hat rolled out on Monday updates to its SOA platform and development tools in the company’s JBoss middleware product line at the EclipseCon 2010 conference.

Included in the rollout at the Santa Clara, Calif. technical conference is JBoss Enterprise SOA Platform 5.0, offering more capabilities for visibility and control and enabling businesses to be more responsive to changing business dynamics, Red Hat said.

The developer tools offering includes JBoss Developer Studio 5.0, for rapid development of interactive applications and services built on the Eclipse 3.5 platform, according to Red Hat.

“Both of these platforms add new and critical capabilities to the JBoss Enterprise Middleware portfolio and help to form a broad range of open source middleware reference architecture which enables organizations to address their application development, deployment and integration needs,” said Craig Muzilla, vice president of middleware at Red Hat, in a statement released by the company.

JBoss SOA platform 5.0 is designed to integrate applications, services, transactions and business components into a business automation architecture. Featured is an updated enterprise service bus with enhanced protocol listeners, management consoles and a rules engine that can be managed by JBoss BRMS (business rules management system. The SOA platform can integrate applications and services in cloud and on-premise deployments.

Version 3.0 of Developer Studio expands support for the JBoss Enterprise Application Platform as well as the JBoss SOA, Portal, and Data Services platforms. Also, development capabilities are featured for building SOA services.
