Panasonic is bringing the company’s Toughpad tablets to Canada, giving organizations needing a ruggedized mobile device a choice of Windows 8 Pro and Android 4.0 versions.

The company said Friday that all three units have passed the U.S. Defense Department’s MIL-STD-810G durability certification, the company said, meaning they have been tested for drops, resistance to fluids and temperature to assure they work “under circumstances that render typical tablets non-operational.”

They also feature daylight viewable screens, replaceable batteries, and multiple options for peripheral connectivity.

“For more than 15 years, Panasonic has been the industry leader in engineering the most reliable and rugged mobile computing devices available to Canadian businesses,” Susan Black, Panasonic Canada’s director of sales and marketing for computer and AV solutions, said in a statement.

“We believe the combination of Panasonic’s market knowledge, R&D and engineering capabilities, the low total cost of ownership, and our reputation for producing reliable field-proven technology will result in these Toughpads becoming the leading B2B tablet solutions in Canada.”
