Linux certification is rarely required

Experience, rather than certification, is the top consideration when it comes to filling a Linux-related position, according to one IT manager.

John Grant, head of the computer department at Toronto-based stock photo agency Masterfile Inc., said certification has never been an issue when hiring any IT worker at his company. “We emphasize experience, problem solving abilities and judgment for technical hires,” he said.
