iPhone, iPad users get extra 2TB storage from LaCie

The LaCie 2TB Fuel

Storage device company LaCie is rolling out a wireless hard drive that will provide users of Apple Inc.’s iPhone, iPad and Mac machines an additional 2TB of storage.

The LaCie Fuel, a small 2.5” wireless hard drive, will be available in April for approximately $250.

The company is touting the device as an ideal accessory for photographers, journalist, bloggers and other professionals as well as movie buff who need to store copious amounts of data on their mobile gadgets.

With the 2TB Fuel, “users can go from 20 mobies on a 32GB iPad to over 1,000 movies on the Fuel,” the company said in a statement. “As the number of journalists, bloggers and photographers using iPhones to cover events increases so does the need for higher capacity storage that allows them to collaborate with collegaues and offload content on the go.”

Earlier this January, LaCie released a 1TB version of the Fuel. The latest version shares some of the features of that model such as:

– Wireless streaming of content to up to five devices without an internet connection
– The ability to create its own Wi-Fi network and act as a hotspot when connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi
– Airplay compatibility for mirroring content on a larger screen
– A 10–hour battery life
