Healthcare agency, local governments select PeopleSoft to improve business processes

Two local governments and a healthcare agency in Canada have opted for PeopleSoft enterprise software to improve business processes, introduce employee/manager self service and facilitate change management.

Capital District Health Authority (CDHA), the City of Greater Sudbury, and the Town of Oakville have awarded contracts to implement PeopleSoft applications and upgrades to systems integrator and PeopleSoft certified partner xWave, an Aliant company.

Halifax-based Capital Health will be deploying several components of PeopleSoft’s Human Resources Management System including Position Management, eRecruit, eBenefits, and Benefits Admin.

These products will enable employees and managers to update and initiate changes directly to their own data. For instance, Capital Health managers will use Position Management to effectively track positions and vacancies. eRecruit will streamline and simplify the recruiting process, while eBenefits and Benefits Admin will enhance benefits-processing, allowing employees to view and update benefits information themselves.

The new applications are expected to improve accuracy and data quality, reduce duplication and empower employees and managers at Capital Health, according to Natalie Hovey, director of financial services, CDHA.

Additional functionality and the desire for greater control over its financial data is the main driver behind the City of Sudbury’s decision to upgrade to PeopleSoft Financials version 8.8. The upgrade will provide users with a wide range of self-service capabilities.

At the Town of Oakville xwave will implement PeopleSoft Financials, as well as HRMS applications. Together they will consolidate Oakville’s disparate systems, increase productivity, and ensure timely access to information. The implementation is expected to enhance information accuracy and scalability, and contribute to the town’s long-term growth.

A PeopleSoft consulting alliance partner since 1996, xwave is itself a PeopleSoft user. For several years the company has provided the Nova Scotia Community College infrastructure and application-management services supporting the College’s PeopleSoft Exchange systems.
