Encouraging a culture of speed in your organization

Culture is the number one barrier to organizational transformation and success. If you want to get leaner and more agile, definitely assess and streamline your technology. But what about your company’s culture?

Many will look to big-name companies for the way forward. They want to innovate like Apple, move with Google’s speed, and predict customer needs and wants like Amazon.

When former CEO Eric Schmidt and senior VP of products Jonathan Rosenberg joined Google in 2001, they were seen as visionary leaders. But with the “Internet century” beginning, old ways of doing business were being rapidly supplanted by new ones.

In their 2017 book How Google Works, Schmidt and Rosenberg said most of the spoils of today’s global market go to those with great ideas who can move quickly. Schmidt and his co-authors were clear that people with strong technical knowledge, business expertise, and the freedom to experiment will have the highest likelihood of success.

Unfortunately very few companies ever reach that rarefied air of super-success. That makes companies like Google perhaps not the best examples to follow. However, Schmidt and Rosenberg did offer a key piece of wisdom – one that speaks loudly to businesses as they come into the post-pandemic era: Build the right culture.

Smart creatives won’t join your company just because. And make no mistake – your organization needs smart creatives. But these individuals want to see the right culture – an environment where both they and the company as a whole can thrive at scale.

Assuming your company has already mapped out its short- and long-term goals, the time is right to “live your own slogans.” In order to do that, it’s helpful to look to the examples of leaders and organizations that are doing the right things coming into 2022.

Important session coming up

Google, Apple, and Amazon have achieved legendary status. But what’s needed more than their examples are examples to follow for today – specifically for those trying to position themselves for a smooth landing in the post-COVID world.

This is where Adopting a Culture of Speed comes in. In this Oct. 28 briefing, you’ll get real-world models and examples to follow in Canada in 2021. The importance of culture and other critical keys to transformation will be discussed by speaker and author Brennan Schmidt along with an all-star Canadian panel of experts from Loblaw Technology, NTT Data, and the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low-Carbon Innovation.

In this ITWC briefing you will learn how to adopt a tech-forward mindset, how to gain advantage by executing the right technology and business services, and how speed is affecting your business. You will learn from case studies and have a chance to put any questions you may have to the panel.

THIS SOUNDS GREAT – COUNT ME IN!
