Data centre colocation and network solution provider Cologix Inc. has announced the completion of its data centre expansion in downtown Toronto.

The new capacity aims to enable dedicated connectivity to public clouds including Microsoft Azure and SoftLayer, the company said on Thursday. Located in Toronto’s King St. West district, the expanded TOR 2 facility means customers now have immediate access to up to 1MW of new high power density data centre capacity.

Enterprises can access “ a menu of network and cloud service providers in Toronto” using the facility’s Meet-Me-Rooms at 905 King St. West and 151 Front St. West, which is connected via dark fibre and Metro Connect services.

According to the company, the city is an attractive destination for data centre location, due to high demand from local businesses seeking to outsource data centre operations, Toronto’s interconnected, accelerated IP network traffic flow, and the growing popularity of hybrid cloud models.

Toronto is an important, high growth market for the company, said Cologix  CEO Grant van Rooyen in a statement.
