Collaboration tool on Ottawa’s list

A maker of a collaboration tool that gives access to Microsoft software from mobile devices is now on the Canadian government’s list of approved suppliers.

Harmon.ie said this week it won a Software Licencing Supply Arrangement (SLSA) by Ottawa, allowing federal app developers the choice of buying its solution through Orangutech, an Ottawa Microsoft partner and the sole provider of the software under the SLSA.

The SLSA gives federal agencies a list of approved technologies in a variety of software and shared systems categories so they don’t have to go through a lengthy procurement process..

Harmon.ie lets users securely access Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint and Yammer on approved BlackBerry, iOS and Android mobile devices.

“Earning this certification is a major milestone in our efforts to support Canadian government agencies,” David Lavenda, harmon.ie’s vice-president of product strategy, said in a statement. “With Orangutech’s deep roots in this market, harmon.ie will be able to help a wide range of agencies give mobile workers a more efficient way to work, share and collaborate securely while on the go.”

Government departments and agencies are under increasing pressure to support a mobile, tech-savvy workforce,” Orangutech CEO Barry Doucette said in the release. “Our team delivers advanced, collaborative solutions built on Microsoft technologies to accelerate this shift, and we only partner with the absolute best. As the top player in this market, harmon.ie offers our government customers excellent value, and the new SLSA provides peace of mind.”
