American investment company The Carlyle Group and Japan’s Kyocera Corp. have struck a deal to take control of DDI Pocket Inc., a Japanese mobile telephone carrier, the companies said Monday.
DDI Pocket provides a nationwide service using the Personal Handyphone System (PHS) standard. KDDI Corp. currently owns a majority 81 per cent stake in DDI Pocket with Kyocera holding 14 per cent and other shareholders accounting for the remaining shares.
After the sale Carlyle will hold 60 per cent of the company, Kyocera will own 30 percent and KDDI will hold the remaining 10 percent share. The total value of the deal is
