On the eve of its merger with Mitel Networks, Toronto’s Aastra Technologies has bought a European provider of cloud-based multi-tenant enterprise communications solutions.
Aastra said Monday that has bought Telepro Ltd. of Stockholm for an undisclosed sum.
Aastra is about to be bought by Ottawa’s Mitel [Nasdaq: MITL] , which consented to the acquisition. In a news release Mitel said the Telepro product will compliment its mult-instance and virtualized solution. However, in an email a company spokesperson said that at the moment Telepro is optimized for Europe, where Aastra has a significant number of customers. Whether Telepro will be offered here hasn’t been confirmed.
Telepo’s solution, aimed at service providers and enterprises, is based on a Web-centric architecture which the company says is highly scalable, flexible and offers best-in-class mobile integration. It includes voice, PBX and call center features with fully-integrated security and pre-built Web based portals for multiple tiers of administrators.
Telepo said it ended 2013 with over 90,000 active users and became profitable. It is offered through 16 European service providers, including the two largest telecom operators in Sweden. Initially Aastra will leverage Telepo’s solution and growth opportunities to enhance its offerings for the European market, the statement said. Customers will have a choice of implementing a premised-based, virtualized or multi-tenant cloud-based solutions.
