When sticking it to a competitor doesn’t make sense

It’s not often that an IT executive shoots from the hip. In my experience most are as carefully trained as professional athletes not to diss a competitor.
But blogger Ben Kepes came across a tweet from cloud entrepreneur Mark Lucovsky flailing platform-as-a-service (PaaS) critics he followed up.
Lucovsky has experience helping build cloud platforms and is apparently unsparing of providers who don’t have a serve-the-customer’s-needs-first approach but criticize others.
In particular he’s critical of providers who make customers assemble components to make PaaS/IaaS offerings work.
However, Kepes notes that some organizations want that flexibility, and others don’t.

Still, Kepes notes that Lucovsky does have one valid point: Stop sticking knives into competitors and instead serve customers.
It’s good advice for any organization.
