OkCupid integrates ChatGPT into its app

OkCupid is utilizing ChatGPT to improve its matchmaking algorithm and assist users in finding more compatible matches. OkCupid integrated ChatGPT into its messaging system, allowing users to converse with their matches in a more natural and engaging manner.

To suggest conversation starters and generate personalized messages, the language model analyzes the users’ conversation history, preferences, and personality traits. ChatGPT can identify and flag suspicious messages that deviate from the user’s typical communication style or contain phishing links, which helps to reduce the risk of users falling victim to catfishing and phishing scams.

In January, OkCupid began asking users what they thought of ChatGPT, adding the question in to tee up matches. The question divided users into two groups: those who thought ChatGPT was a “life saver” and those who thought it was too “big brother.” OkCupid users who believe it is a “life saver” received nearly 40% more matches than those who believe it is “too big brother.”

OkCupid uses ChatGPT to improve its matchmaking algorithm in addition to improving the quality of conversations on the app. The language model employs ChatGPT, a generative AI technology, to generate questions for its daters. Users can use this to find matches who are more compatible with their personality, interests, and preferences.

Overall, as a result of the positive response, OkCupid is considering incorporating ChatGPT-generated questions on a monthly basis.
