ChatGPT records downtime worldwide

ChatGPT has been reported to have connectivity issues all over the world. The outage only affected ChatGPT. The OpenAI API and other research websites remained operational, powering ChatGPT alternatives and services such as Microsoft’s Bing Chate. Furthermore, OpenAI’s other models, such as DALL-E 2, remained online.

This outage began in the last 45 minutes. ChatGPT is currently unavailable in the United States, Europe, India, Japan, Australia, and other parts of the world, according to DownDetector.

The outage was caused by “database instabilities,” and it began a few hours after the servers were taken offline. OpenAI first restored service to ChatGPT Plus subscribers, then waited about 30 minutes before restoring service to free users.

On the status page, OpenAI has acknowledged an issue affecting ChatGPT. “Traffic for ChatGPT is beginning to improve after initial fixes have been implemented,” the company said.

ChatGPT has experienced its second major outage in the last 90 days. On February 21, the chatbot was unavailable for four and a half hours due to another outage. You can subscribe for updates and keep an eye on OpenAI’s status page to see when the service becomes available again. When accessing ChatGPT, users see “the origin web server timed out responding to this request” error message.
