A quick look at BlackBerry’s Passport

Photo from BlackBerry

Coming back from New York two weeks ago, where I covered BlackBerry’s announcement of the acquisition of Secusmart, I noticed a guy in the row ahead of me with an unfamiliar handset.

Then I realized it was the upcoming Passport, the company’s large screen smart phone with a physical keyboard. Likely a BlackBerry employee, he put the device away before I could photograph it.

But if you want to get an idea of what’s coming, MobileSyrup.ca has captured a quick video review from Britain’s Carphone Warehouse.

It has a stainless steel frame (not al-you-minium, as they say on the other side of the pond) and will come in black and white.

Likely to be released next month, it’s one of two handsets from the company that may appeal to enterprise users. The other is the BlackBerry Classic, a handset that runs the new BB 10 operating system but includes a trackpad as older BlackBerrys did.
