Meet Microsoft’s New Super Software

Now that Microsoft looks like it will acquire Yammer this will go a far way to compete with Google plus.  MS has always said it will compete with Google in this space but it has not come to fruition at this point until now.

Enter Azure, BING, Yammer, Skype, Windows LIVE, , Dynamics CRM and ERP's, Windows 8, MS has put together a unique and now comparable infrastructure platform to compete with Google Plus.  Recently, MS mentioned they would be creating a Facebook like network.  These combinations of products can easily create the infrastructure for MS create a social network platform and then create a social media site to compare to Facebook.  The new platform if combined with the buffet of MS options can easily create a super collaboration, social software and by the way enter their enterprise offerings of the ERP suites they sell is very compelling to organizations.  The argument of a single vendor for OS, Database, application and technology IT strategy can be a game changer yet again for MS.

In order for organizations to adopt the MS ideal a few things will have to happen.  These products will have to be integrated in short order and seamlessly work together well.  MS can take a few lessons from Salesforce in integrating quickly and incorporating their acquisitions into the flagship products which are quickly available for usage by their customer base.  In an earlier post, I predicted what MS could do with Skype at the enterprise level.  With Skype being part of  Windows 8 for their new release it looks like they may have read our blog.  Further to this we see the MS portfolio of products can be combined to form a new social business super software.  Imagine internal/external collaboration including supply chain and manufacturing that is integrated throughout your ERP system,  the social advantages of customer service, self-service with and integrated together can make the case for a single IT vendor relevant again.By providing a platform for creating an entire infrastructure with Azure and the rest of the enterprise tools MS offers into a suite can be a game changer if they assemble it correctly. With its enterprise customer base for MSSQL and Now Windows 8 MS can make a large comeback by simplifying IT software selection for CIO’s, CTO’s and other C-level executives due to the amount of benefits offered from a single vendor and more importantly cover most of their enterprise software needs.

If they do launch a Facebook competitor, they can also compete with Google+ and create a total MS based infrastructure platform for organizations that is available as a cloud option – very compelling to organizations. It will be interesting to see where this ends up and with whom they compete.
