Fortinet has bought some assets and intellectual property of Woven Systems, a maker of Ethernet fabric switching solutions for the high-performance computing market that closed earlier this year. Woven’s high-speed switching and traffic management technology will be used to enhance Fortinet’s FortiGate-5000 Series chassis-based security solutions, the company said in a news release.Woven’s products included what Fortinet said are amongthe world’s smallest, densest and highest-performing 10 GbE switches powered by a custom-designed switching ASIC. Fortinet intends to combine the technology with its own custom network and content processors for increased scalability, which will bring about additional acceleration of security throughput for its FortiGate-5000 Series appliances.
