Aleos to power all Sierra Wireless routers

Sierra Wirelesswill add its Aleos embedded intelligence platform to the firm’s MP lineof rugged in-vehicle mobile routers when version 4.0 of the software isreleased this summer.  As a result, all of the Vancouver company’sAirLink gateways and routers will share a common firmware platform,simplifying device management and support.  Buyers of the MP routers include law enforcement, fire and rescue, and emergency field services organizations, Sierra said in a news release. 

 ALEOS 4.0 has been enhanced with a variety of newsecurity features, including a fully compliant IPsec VPN, portfiltering and support for up to five simultaneous VPN tunnels. It supports new routing capabilities, like NAT, Port Forwarding and DHCP server and client. It also nowincludes a sophisticatedevents reporting engine, allowing customers toconfigure their AirLink devices to automatically report events to athird-party application, e-mail address and/or a text message. Finally,it comes with ACEware 4.0, a Web-based suite ofmanagement software. ACEmanager allows customers to performcomprehensive device setup, configuration, control and management fromanywhere with internet access.
