Via Cyrix III processor

Via Technologies Inc. start shipping new iterations of the Cyrix III processor family later this month, running at clock-speeds of 533MHz to 667MHz. Designed to fit into the same Socket 370 architecture that Intel Corp. uses for its entry-level Celeron and Pentium III chips, the Cyrix III chips are aimed at small form-factor desktop PCs, mobile devices and Internet appliances. The chips will be manufactured on 0.18-micron process technology and consume less than 10 Watts of power, company officials said. Pricing for the chips ranges from US$75 for the 533MHz version to $160 for the 667MHz version, in 1,000-unit quantities. Via Technologies, in Taipei, Taiwan, can be reached at
