Simmtronics to expand in India

BANGALORE – One of India’s biggest manufacturers of memory modules, motherboards and graphics cards is expanding its sales and support network across the country.

Simmtronics Semiconductors Ltd. will establish offices in 10 more cities, including what the industry calls B and C class cities in the first phase, to cater to the growing popularity of the its products.

Besides the existing facilities at Delhi, Mumbai and Pune, the new offices will be set up in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Ghaziabad, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur and Kolkata by the end of this month. Starting in March, Simmtronics will set up offices in seven more cities bringing the total 20.

“There are about 61 B & C class cities in India which, besides metros, hold immense business potential in the days to come – primarily owing to the rapid development they are witnessing in all spheres including adoption of technology and its usage,” said Indrajit Sabharwal, Simmtronics’ managing director.

“As we foresee a significant increase in the demand for all our products in the immediate future, it makes perfect sense for us to further our presence and set up offices in territories unrepresented. We intend being closer to our direct billing partners and customers such that we are able to support them when it comes to sales and service respectively.”

The brand is ranked as no. 1 in the memory module market in India, Singapore, Thailand, UAE and several other countries. Currently, the company is targeting the sale of 90,000 memory units every month.

The company also offers a comprehensive range of motherboards for both Intel and AMD platforms, with chipsets from Intel, Nvidia and ATi. Its goal is to sell about 30,000 motherboards a month. Through a deal with Nvidia to provide a comprehensive range of graphic cards based it also plans to sell 15,000 graphic card units every month.

Simmtronics is also doing away with the traditional distributor model and will have 800 direct billing partners (DBPs) under its fold – reporting to its network offices across the country. It is currently appointing new DBPs and integrating the existing resellers into the fold to further consolidate its position in the market.

On the service front, Simmtronics has announced walk-in warranties which means that customers simply need to connect to the closest network office and the applicable warranties shall be honored. This circumvents the need for an authorized service partner network.
