New Equinix CEO won’t affect Canadian operations

Equinix CEO Charles J. Meyers

Global interconnection and data centre provider Equinix Inc. appointed new president and CEO Charles Meyers on Sept. 12, and Equinix says it doesn’t anticipate the new leadership will mean any significant shakeup for the Canadian operations.

Equinix plans to continue running Canada’s region as part of its Europe, Middle East, and Africa division, headed by executive Andrew Eppich. Equinix operates twin data centers totaling more than 13,000-square metres in Toronto. It’s customers include many financial organizations that rely on its connections to more than 60 different service providers.

Meyers, who will also sit on Equinix’s board of directors, succeeds former CEO Peter Van Camp, who resumes his former role as executive chairman after fulling his interim stint.

Meyers has been with Equinix since 2010, at first leading the company’s largest profit & loss centre in the Americas region, and has worked in the technology industry for a quarter century. He was previously group president at Verisign and served in executive roles at Level 3 Communications. He has dual Master’s Degrees from Northwestern University’s J.L. Kelogg Graduate School of Management and McCormick Graduate School of Engineering.

Meyers commented on his new role on Twitter:
