A maker of IT management solutions is about to significantly expanded the scalability of its network performance and data centre monitoring software.
ManageEngine said the upcoming version of OpManager will be able to monitor up to 1 million interfaces from a single server for less than US$1 million.
OpManager Enterprise Edition starts at SU$16,495 for 500 devices.
The beta of the next version is being previewed at this week’s Cisco Live conference. There was no detail on when the final version will be out. No was there mention of a new root-cause analysis capability called Network360 promised in May press release from the company.
The current version of OpManager can monitor up to 100,000 devices through mid-tier probes, said ManageEngine president Raj Sabhlok in an interview. “We’re going into larger and larger environments, and customers are asking for solutions that scale to that level.”
The ability to monitor 10 times the current number of devices is in part due to code optimization, he said.
ManageEngine is a division of privately-held Zoho Corp., known for a range of cloud-based services bearing the Zoho name (Zoho Books for accounting, Zoho CRM, Zoho Docs for collaboration).
ManageEngine has some 25 products covering network, server and help desk management including NetFlow Analyzer, DeviceExpert, Applications Manager, AssetExplorer and ADManager Plus, for overseeing Active Directory.
Sabhlok said his division has a staff of 1,600 with 70,000 customers in 200 countries.
It largely sells direct to customers, although its software is available here through Softchoice and Optrics Engineering of Edmonton.
Although OpManager’s competitors include CA Technologies, Hewlett-Packard, IBM and BMC, Sabhlok said his goal isn’t to go directly up against them. Instead, he said, ManageEngine goes into departments to “chip away” at the big guys with an offering that can be downloaded and installed quickly for a substantial saving.
OpManager can oversee the availability and manage configurations for routers, switches, firewalls, WAN accelerators and wireless access points.
