Mandriva portable Linux operating system doubles capacity

France-based opensource technology vendor Mandriva S.A. announced a new version of its portable operating system that fits in the user’s pocket.

Installation of the Mandriva Flash 2008 requires a few clicks, the company said. The user need only plug in the USB key, turn on the PC, and the system is ready for office work, listening to music and surfing the Web.

The latest version provides users with 8GB of space, doubled from the previous capacity. And, the release supports NTFS file systems and comes with a migration tool to enable users to import Windows settings and documents.

Mandriva is formerly known as Mandrakesoft.
