The Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group (MAAWG) – comprised of members such as Google Inc., McAfee Inc, and Sun Microsystems Inc. – has released the latest version of its Senders Best Communications Practices.
The San Francisco-based anti-spam association released the best practices guidelines to help volume senders improve the deliverability of their legitimate e-mail and e-newsletters. One way for e-newsletters or permission-based e-marketing to avoid being sent to the junk mail, according to the MAAWG, is for senders to avoid embedding unsubscribe instructions in an image or icon, as many users’ systems will automatically block the message or not display the icon.
The MAAWG guide, originally issued last year, is one of the first collaborative efforts between network operators and volume senders worldwide. The best practices are available at the MAAWG Web site.
