As organizations accumulate tens of gigabytes and more of data, they may feel they don’t have the resources to craft a strategy for leveraging it. They may even have some business intelligence capabilities, but aren’t getting enough from it.
Hewlett-Packard’s consulting division want to give them a hand with its new Business Intelligence Modernization Services, which it says will help enterprises take best advantage of big data to meet business needs.
Martin Risau, senior vice president for analytics and data management at HP Enterprise Services, said in an interview it’s a “comprehensive suite of services, architectures and technologies to help customers address new analytics requirements and become data-driven and agile.”
Not only will HP advise customers on setting up their infrastructure on-prem, he said, it can also offer the company’s cloud-based services as well, such as Hadoop in an HP Helion private cloud or analytics as a service.
No minimum amount of data is needed to retain HP for advice. However, the service is aimed at medium-sized organizations and larger who need what Risau called “performance management ” – for example bringing reports faster to a broader number of staff so they can make fact-based decisions in a more agile way.
“With the newer tools and services we have available you can make (business intelligence) better,” he said, with big data or “normal data.”
While HP (NYSE: HPQ) offered BI consulting services until now, the expanded Modernization Service offers more recent HP cloud services.
Risau said the Modernization Service includes discovering so-called data lakes in enterprise and offering tools allowing them to be shared; analytics solutions; and offering hybrid on-prem, public or private cloud data management.
For Canadian organizations concerned about data sovereignty but want a cloud-based solution, HP can offer a private cloud solution hosted in an HP data centre here, he said.
