Hitachi Data Systems has expanded the capabilities of its object storage system.
The Hitachi Content Platform now includes HPC Anywhere, for file synchronization and sharing; and Hitachi Data Ingestor, a scalable and backup-free file service for remote offices, branch offices, and cloud storage users.
The new release of HCP introduces adaptive cloud tiering, the company said in a release, which allows organizations to intelligently and automatically move data to and from public clouds from Google, Amazon and Microsoft based on changes in demand and policies.
“This capability lets IT create a secure hybrid cloud that has the keys to true cloud mobility, complete with a balanced approach to security and cost,” Hitachi says. “With the added elements of HCP Anywhere and HDI, all user-oriented file services can be delivered in the most user-friendly way possible to balance the security and governance requirements of IT. In addition, new capabilities synchronize data across multiple active sites for improved productivity, faster access, and streamlined business continuity.”
HCP Anywhere and HDI are available as software-only offerings.
The Hitachi Content Platform is an integrated system for object storage that includes a choice of four physical and one virtual sever/storage arrays with capacities ranging from 4 TB to 80 PB. Models can hold up to 256 GB of RAM. It includes archive, backup-free, and hybrid cloud storage for diverse users and applications.
