Apple recalls MacBook Pros, Huawei promises Android update, transmitting data using light.

That’s all the news that’s trending today. It’s Friday, June 21st, and I’m your host, Tom Li.

Trending on Google, Apple is recalling certain models of its 15” MacBook Pros due to battery safety concerns. An Apple support page says that some 15” Macbooks sold between September 2015 and February 2017 have batteries that could overheat and pose a fire safety risk. To see if your machine is eligible for the free battery replacement, enter its serial number into the page linked in our transcription.

Trending on Twitter, Huawei has promised to bring Android Q upgrade to 20 of its mobile devices, including its full Mate and P series. In addition, the tech giant has promised that all of its Android phones and tablets will continue to function as normal and receive security updates. The statement was included among a list of other promises to dispell a few rumors surrounding its devices. And while reassuring to existing users, it’s Huawei’s future devices that will receive the blunt force of the U.S. Entity List.

Lastly, trending Reddit, Signify has launched a Li-Fi system for transmitting data using light. Named Trulifi, the system is designed for Government, Corporate, and environments that demand security. In addition, it circumvents today’s congested wireless radio wave spectrums. Signify says that its Trulifi point-to-point system can reliably deliver up to 250Mbps, meeting today’s high bandwidth requirements.
