G Suite adds more phishing alerts

Taking security to cloud

Businesses that use Google’s G Suite productivity applications are now getting better warnings of possible cyber threats.

The company said this week the suite’s alert centre, usually monitored by a network or security administrator, has added more Gmail phishing alerts for suspicious mail, a new data export initiated alert, a new alert deletion option and a link to audit logs for G Suite Business and Basic domains.

The alert center provides a single view of essential security-related notifications, alerts, and actions across G Suite.

“The improvements will help G Suite admins get more insights and manage their alerts,” Google said in a blog.

G Suite, which includes Gmail, Google Docs. Google Drive and Calendar, comes in three versions: Basic (US$5 a month per user), Business (US10 a month per user) and Enterprise (US$25 a month per user). Business and Enterprise versions have unlimited storage. All three include mobile device management.

To find details of an alert, G Suite Business and Basic admins can use a link to go directly the specific portion of audit logs and look up more information on past user activities related to this alert. G Suite Enterprise admins have a direct link to the investigation tool, which is part of the security center for G Suite.
