Egnyte brings Google Drive into enterprise file-sharing solution

Egnyte Inc. has announced a new version of its enterprise file-sharing platform that incorporates Google Drive’s storage and collaboration capabilities.

The new release provides end-users with a single-pane view of all their files, whether they’re stored in the cloud or in on-premise storage, the company said in a statement.

Egnyte also allows centralized access management and auditing of file activity.

Users can create secure folders for a unified namespace of their files across devices and access files from anywhere, according to the company. Users don’t require a Gmail account to access Google Drive documents.

While companies are increasingly relying on cloud solutions for storage and collaboration, recent research by International Data Group suggests that 61 per cent of enterprise files will always have to be stored locally.
