Dell’s SonicWall division has added a fourth next generation firewall to its SuperMassive 9000 series, which it says has the same protection and performance as its flagship SuperMassive 10000 Series.
The new 2U-sized 9800 is for mid-sized and up enterprises is the highest-performance deep-packet inspection firewall available, the company says, allowing customers to benefit from reduced capital expenditure and reduced rack, power and cooling costs in the future.
It will soon leverage the new version 8 of Dell’s Global Management System software with new workflow automation for easier management. GSM 8.0 will be released early next year.
The 9800 has up to 20 Gbps of DPI performance, with what Dell calls ultra-fast parallel inspection processing for scalability to higher throughput and connectivity
It also offers best-in-class security with 97.9 per cent security effectiveness without compromising performance. Dell’s Reassembly-Free Deep Packet Inspection (RFDPI) single-pass threat prevention engine searches more levels of data and every element of every packet to identify threats.
It can support millions of simultaneous connections at near-zero latency for higher throughput, concurrent/ simultaneous TCP connections and connection per second to respond to increased user count, user device count (BYOD and IoT) and demand for network connection.
New enterprise-level capabilities and resiliency including support for IPv6, A/A clustering, SNMPv3 and Advanced Switching to organizations that previously found the cost of entry for these advanced capabilities too expensive, Dell says.
