Marlboro, Mass.-based Concord Communications Inc. last month launched new AdvantEDGE IIS software for Microsoft Corp.’s Internet Information Service (IIS). Because of the desire for as close to 100 per cent network uptime as possible, Concord designed the AdvantEDGE IIS to identify bandwidth bottlenecks, track Web page errors and isolate poorly performing application services before the network experiences downtime. The AdvantEDGE also increases an Internet manager’s ability to monitor CPU utilization and system resources by sending real-time alerts before problems begin affecting network performance. The software has self-healing capabilities that allow it to fix problems on its own, such as restarting a failed service. AdvantEDGE IIS is available through Concord’s sales force, and pricing begins at US$1,750.

Computer Associates International Inc. of Islandia, N.Y., launched the Service Level Management Option for Unicenter TNG and NetworkIT 2.0 in mid-December. Produced to allow technical administrators and business managers to monitor, manage and evaluate service levels across e-business infrastructures, the SLM Option provides Web-based service level reporting that taps into the available operating system, application, network, Web and database metrics for all scales of infrastructure. With a high degree of automation, the SLM Option lets technology and business managers focus on other activities. Some of the tool’s features include a complete picture of service levels, a simple import and export utility, flexible reporting and configuration and a carrier-class design. The SLM Option is available under Computer Associates’ new simplified licensing model for HP-UX, Solaris and Linux platforms.
