NCR Corp. has introduced Xpress Payment Kiosks that allow retailers to cash in on self-service convenience. The kiosks are specifically for bill payments.

Consumers will use the kiosks to scan a bar code on their bill or enter a personal access code. The kiosk shows the consumers’ their bills and accepts their payments, credits their accounts and prints receipts. It will accept cash, cheques, credit or debit payments into a secure enclosure. The kiosks will also run multimedia product advertising or store promotional messages.

Borland and Siemens advance wireless Java development

Borland Software Corp. and Siemens Information and Communication Mobile Group have announced a non-exclusive agreement to advance the development of wireless applications for Java enabled mobile phones.

As part of the agreement, Borland granted Siemens the right, free of charge to distribute Borland JBuilder MobileSet, a Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME) compliant environment, and Borland JBuilder Personal edition as part of an update to the Siemens Early Bird Developer Program. The Siemens Early Bird Developer Program offers a Java-based mobile phone and software development kit (SDK) to Siemens’ online community. Handspring and Extended Systems will market mobile solution

Handspring and Extended Systems have announced a sales and marketing relationship under which the companies plan to train, educate and provide solutions for enterprise customers who are considering mobile device deployment.

Through the agreement the companies intend to develop strategies to promote Extended Systems’ mobile data and device management software with Handspring devices, including the new Treo communicator and popular Visor handhelds, to corporate customers looking for an effective mobile device deployment strategy and a comprehensive solution set. Extended Systems will participate in Handspring’s first enterprise training event. The training will feature Extended Systems latest product release and technology.
