Toronto’s Blueprint Software Systems has released an updated version of its application requirements definition and management solution.
Blueprint v5.4 now has the ability for users to attach electronic signatures to their work, which will appeal to corporate users in regulated industries.
It also offers new application lifecycle management integration capabilities with applications such as IBM Rational Team Concert, JIRA, Microsoft Team Foundation Server, Rally and VersionOne.
As a result, the company says, there will be better communications between business analysts, developers, software testers and others who use these products.
Also new is Blueprint Analytics, which gives visibility into the early stages of Blueprint-based IT projects. The information in Blueprint can also be accessed by other analytics platforms.
“The lack of visibility and collaboration across the enterprise in the early stages of the software development lifecycle is sabotaging many IT projects,” BluePrint CEO Dan Shimmerman said in a statement. “Blueprint v5.4 helps more people from across the enterprise make better decisions earlier in the software development lifecycle by easily sharing requirements information with all of those who need it. It also lets executives see which projects are at risk from the very early stages.”
Finally, To support the easy location of artifacts across a portfolio of projects, version v5.4 allows users to search for requirements information in selected Blueprint projects.
BluePrint includes editors that can create business process models, generic diagrams, domain models, storyboards and use case scenarios. Reviewers can provide feedback. Version control lets project managers keep track of changes. Collaboration features allow team members to communicate.
Last fall BluePrint released BlueDocs, which converts Microsoft Word documents into am XML format readable by BluePrint. It’s ideal for organizations with a lot of legacy documents.
Blueprint can be bought as a cloud or on premise version.
