It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas: Microsoft, fearful that counterfeiters will outdo its own reseller channel in software sales, is clamping down on a ring of pirates that was exposed by the FBI and linked to China. Included in the 52 being charged by the software giant is an Edmonton man who was peddling illegal versions of its server product on eBay. That he was the only Canadian involved, though, and was selling it on an auction site as opposed to the back of a truck, proves that as a nation we are not only more polite but also more discreet.
